Summary

The Collections Manager is responsible for the collections process, setting and monitoring collections goals, and reducing bad debt expense and days sales outstanding.

The Collections Manager reports to the Chief Financial Officer, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations in collections activities.

The ideal candidate has experience in collections, has excellent communication and negotiation skills, and has strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute collections plans and strategies to meet targets for bad debt expense reduction and days sales outstanding improvement.

Monitor and report on collections metrics and trends, identify and resolve issues, and implement corrective actions.

Maintain positive and professional relationships with customers, internal stakeholders, and external agencies.

Escalate complex or high-risk accounts to senior management and legal counsel as needed.

Produce a weekly report of the top ten past due account balances and the actions taken to collect them.

Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external legal on collection matters, ensuring timely and effective communication and coordination.

Gather and summarize detailed invoice-level information on outstanding balances for submission to collection agencies and legal counsel

Contact customers with past due balances, using various methods to secure payment and resolve disputes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.

Minimum of two years of experience in collections.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and collections software.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Customer service-oriented, with a positive and professional attitude.
