Job Title: Test Technician (1st Shift) Job DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Test Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will perform basic to moderately complex setup and teardown activities of large water-cooled chillers, under general supervision. This role involves connecting and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems on manufactured equipment.Responsibilities
Connect and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems on Charlotte-manufactured equipment.
Operate, inspect, and maintain test setups and equipment to detect malfunctions.
Support engineering testing of chillers under moderate supervision.
Perform tests and evaluate results in an engineering laboratory.
Collaborate with higher-level support staff to confer with engineers on test procedures and results.
Perform basic to moderately complex technical tasks contributing to the planning and execution of engineering projects.
Run tests for research and development and certification purposes.
Set up and tear down test equipment, ensuring every unit is tested before it leaves the facility.
Essential Skills
High School Diploma or GED
Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting
3+ years of experience with hand/pneumatic tools
Experience with HVAC service and systems (2+ years)
Ability to move/lift weights up to 35 lbs
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with HVAC or other large commercial equipment
Commercial HVAC industrial or operation experience preferred
Experience with instrumentation setup, troubleshooting, and calibration
Strong PC skills
Experience or familiarity with forklift and overhead crane operation preferred
Reading and interpreting complex drawings, schematics, and blueprints
Associates Degree strongly preferred
Trade Technical/Business School Certificate or Skilled Trades Apprenticeship strongly preferred
Refrigerant certification preferred
Experience with VFD’s pumps, cooling towers, heavy electrical switchgears, and motor control centers
Measurement techniques, test report writing, systems troubleshooting, data integrity, and traceability
Able to stand, bend, and lift (less than 50 lbs) for extended periods of time
Proficiency with email and Excel
Work EnvironmentThe role involves working with very large systems that fit on the back of a tractor-trailer. The facility includes 5 test labs, dealing with large complex industrial systems, mechanical, electrical, and HW/SW smart systems, and various certifications including weldments, environmental, and energy.
