Position - Tree Climber – must have climbing experience with spikes and harnesses

Pay - 30-40/HR paid based on experience

40 hours a week and some weekend work

Driving and Background screen – CDL license preferred or willingness to get a CDL

Job Summary:

As a Tree Care Worker/Climber, you will be responsible for performing all aspects of tree care, including climbing, pruning, trimming, and removal of trees. You will work safely at heights using specialized equipment to ensure the health, safety, and aesthetic of trees. This position requires physical endurance, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of tree care techniques, safety protocols, and equipment operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Tree Climbing & Pruning:

o Climb trees using climbing gear (ropes, harnesses, etc.) to safely prune, trim, and remove limbs or entire trees.

o Conduct crown thinning, raising, and reduction to improve tree structure, health, and appearance.

o Perform deadwood removal and tree hazard reduction through safe and effective pruning techniques.

o Apply knowledge of tree species, growth patterns, and structural integrity to make appropriate pruning decisions.

Tree Removal:

o Safely remove trees when necessary, coordinating with ground crew to ensure safe and efficient operations.

o Rig tree sections for controlled lowering to minimize damage to surrounding areas.

o Operate chainsaws, pole saws, and other power equipment to cut and remove limbs.

Safety:

o Adhere to company safety policies and procedures, including compliance with ANSI Z133 and OSHA regulations.

o Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE), climbing gear, and tools.

o Conduct pre-climb inspections of trees for safety hazards, such as weak limbs, decay, or insect infestation.

o Maintain constant communication with the ground crew for safe equipment use and lowering of tree sections.

Ground Support:

o Assist with loading and unloading of tools, equipment, and materials as needed.

o Support the ground crew in clearing debris, brush chipping, and maintaining a clean worksite.

Customer Service:

o Interact with clients professionally, providing education on tree care, maintenance, and health.

o Address client concerns regarding tree work and make recommendations for tree maintenance.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a tree climber or tree pruner.

Knowledge of tree pruning and removal techniques, including crown cleaning, thinning, and reduction.

Proficiency in the safe operation of chainsaws, hand saws, pole saws, wood chippers, and rigging equipment.

Understanding of tree species, diseases, pests, and best tree care practices.

Familiarity with ANSI A300 pruning standards and ANSI Z133 safety standards.

Strong communication skills to work with team members and clients.

Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

ISA Certified Arborist or Tree Worker Certification.

Valid CDL or willingness to obtain one.

CPR/First Aid certification.

Work Environment:

Outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions.

Regularly required to climb trees, lift heavy equipment, and perform physically demanding tasks.
