This position is devoted to providing technical support, administration and maintenance of a department’s technology systems and equipment, including user support, data management and data extraction/analysis. This position will perform professional information technology work that requires independent evaluation and analysis of issues and the exercise of judgment, education and experience to select and apply criteria to resolve problems and make recommendations. Decision-making includes selecting the method to address a problem or issue, subject to the constraints established by management objectives and direction.Position is responsible for reviewing data for accuracy and quality; researching, analyzing, and updating data; assessing business needs; configuring systems; responding to user requests; troubleshooting systems or network issues; writing reports and queries; administering servers or networks; installing and configuring updates; backing up data; configuring access; and performing related duties.Duties/Responsibilities

Provides journey-level information technology support for a department; researches, analyzes and updates data, including creating and maintaining spatial databases; develops maps, as assigned; assesses business requirements; troubleshoots system, database, and network issues, coordinating with enterprise technology operations as required; writes queries; administers servers or networks; installs and configures systems and updates; configures system access; and manages and plans storage capacity, as assigned

Prepares, reviews, maintains, and/or submits plans, reports, records, contracts, plats, agreements, and other documents; researches compiles, analyzes, retrieves, and/or presents information; and reviews work for accuracy and completeness.

Collaborates with City departments, and/or external agencies to respond to user or data requests; plans and administers process improvement studies; serves as the technical point of contact for department technology needs; and coordinates special projects.

Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Performs research, analysis, and updating of data including, creating and maintaining spatial databases; developing maps.

Responding to user requests for data, reports and maps.

Troubleshooting systems and performing queries.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or directly related field

One year of related professional information technology experience.

Additional Preferred Skills

Experience with GIS.

Experience working with infrastructure mapping or utilities.

A valid, unrestricted, North Carolina driver's license? (If you have a license from a State other than North Carolina, you must be willing and able to obtain a valid, unrestricted NC

driver's license within 60 days of hire).
