DescriptionSummaryThe primary duty of the Controls Technician is to provide technical services for the PowerControl monitoring systems including but not limited to development, setup and support of multiple field deployed Microgrid Monitoring systems which include hardware and electronic communication protocols from various manufacturers.Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma with equivalent knowledge gained from work experience/informal training. However, a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field from an Accredited University is preferred. Proficient in network development and setup in an electronics control environment. Demonstrated ability to set up and troubleshoot Data Concentrators such as “RedLion”. Proficient with cell modem setup, operation and troubleshooting. Demonstrated ability in HMI and/or PLC programming Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial engineering environment with a focus on SCADA, PLC programming or electronics communication. (or ability to learn either) Proficient with MS Office applications like Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS, etc. Advanced knowledge in Industrial Network Systems and standard Protocols Basic proficiency with industrial HMI and/or PLC programming. Advanced knowledge preferred. Experience in the design and application of multiple controlled energy sources along with associated distribution within a Microgrid system is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required Ability to travel up to 5% of the year (recommend keeping this in here because there may be times a person needs to make a site visit)Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong analytical, communication (both verbal and written) and organizational skills with a desire for continuous improvement. An understanding of basic industrial networking principles An understanding of various communication protocols including but not limited to DNP3, BACNET & Modbus Proficient with Microsoft Office suite-daily usage of Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS, etc. Ability to interact with peers and management Knowledge of structured programming communicationsEssential Functions Design, setup and support of multiple monitored networks in Microgrid environments. Prepare and setup site specific hardware to be delivered to project sites. Support field technicians in the setup, commissioning and troubleshooting of monitoring systems. Review project system drawings to ensure all components of the Microgrid required to provide monitored data are included in the monitoring network. Ensure schedules and milestone dates are achieved via IFS and provide feedback to Manager if issues arise Coordinate and communicate with the Production Engineering department regarding project workflow schedulingPhysical Demands: On occasion may be asked to lift up to 30 pounds. Due to nature of job, extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting could occur. Exposure to changing outdoor weather conditions while on a site visit may be encountered while performing this job. Manual dexterity to operate digital equipment, including computers and machine controllersWork Environment Primarily office environment with exception for occasional Manufacturing and site visits.
