Role Overview
As Assistant Production Manager, you’ll work alongside our Production Manager to ensure seamless, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations across a diverse SKU portfolio. You’ll be responsible for day-to-day supervision of production staff, training new team members, and driving continuous improvement in throughput, quality, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Production Oversight: Coordinate daily production schedules for multiple SKUs ensuring targets are met on time and within budget.
Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop a production team of machine operators, packagers, and QC inspectors. Lead hiring efforts, conduct onboarding and ongoing training, and manage performance reviews.
Process Optimization: Collaborate with Production Manager to identify bottlenecks, implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), and roll out process improvements to boost efficiency and reduce waste.
Quality & Compliance: Enforce strict quality control protocols and cGMP/ASTM packaging standards. Partner with QA to resolve non-conformances and maintain perfect audit readiness.
Resource Management: Maintain production materials inventory, reorder supplies in a timely manner, and coordinate equipment maintenance to minimize downtime.
Safety & Cleanliness: Champion a culture of safety by enforcing PPE use, conducting regular safety audits, and ensuring 5S/clean room standards are upheld.
Qualifications
Experience: 2+ years in a production management or supervisory role
Leadership: Proven ability to hire, train, and motivate front-line teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with high speed automated packaging machinery (flow wrappers, filling lines, capping machines) and production scheduling software.
Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of cGMP is a plus
Communication: Strong verbal and written skills; able to liaise effectively across operations, QA, and maintenance teams.
Mindset: Detail-oriented problem solver with a hands-on attitude and a passion for continuous improvement.
