Environmental Compliance Inspector
Looking for a qualified person to perform erosion and sediment control inspections on job sites in NC and VA job is based out of Bethel,NC . This position involves a combination of construction site inspections and reporting/office work. Inspectors review compliance with local, state and federal requirements for construction site stormwater runoff. These inspections are on active construction sites and occur both weekly and after rain events greater than or equal to one inch in a 24-hour period. Rain event inspections occur during normal business hours. Inspectors are assigned regular inspection sites, attend construction site meetings as needed, provide coverage for regular inspectors during vacations/emergencies, issue a variety of reports, manage and track project documents, conduct client communications, track their weekly inspections to submit in a monthly summary and attend trainings and team meetings. Coverage inspections typically include weekly and rain event inspections on active construction sites, report filing and clear communication to associated staff and clients.
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Conducting all (weekly and post rain event) related NCDEQ inspections on assigned construction sites
· Field work in all seasons with various active grading and construction site conditions
· Conducting NC DEMLR self- inspections and performing device measurements
· Completing reports, assessments and other documents in a variety of software, including but not limited to online platforms as well as the Microsoft Office Suite of programs
· Coordinating and attending client and construction site meetings
· Other duties which may arise
Preferred Experience and Skills:
· Background in construction and inspections (preferred but not required)
· Good map reading/navigation skills
· Ability to maintain inspection and project document binders and other on-site materials
· Strong work ethic and interest in working independently
· Ability to navigate rugged terrain on active construction sites in varied weather conditions
Required Experience and Skills:
· Good communication skills
· Basic computer skills including use of Word, Excel, online systems and email
· NC Driver’s License with a clean record
· Ability to read and understand construction drawings, or ability to learn to read and utilize drawings.
