We are a large wholesale horticultural organization looking for a maintenance technician for our satellite location in eastern North Carolina who is skilled at servicing and repairing a variety of farm and greenhouse equipment including but not limited to tractors, fans, golf carts, motors, heaters, carts and trailers, mowers, and electrical and mechanical systems used in greenhouses. A broad mechanical, electrical, and general “fix-it” knowledge required.
Qualifications
Capable of most electrical and mechanical maintenance and repairs.
Ability to compile and carry out regular maintenance schedules for all equipment and greenhouse operation systems.
Plumbing knowledge and general carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the farm.
Strong problem solver with effective communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work well unsupervised and also direct and oversee any work assistance provided.
Strong time management skills to prioritize and coordinate complex maintenance tasks.
Knowledge of work safety procedures and implementation.
Attention to detail to ensure all jobs are completed and any potential problems for hazards are not overlooked.
Must have good work habits.
Must have a driver’s license.
2 to 3 years maintenance experience required.
Welding and HVAC experience a plus.
Machine operation a plus.
Comfortable with utilizing computers to facilitate tasks and schedules.
Responsibilities
Devise and implement regular maintenance and repairs on all equipment and greenhouse mechanical operations.
Troubleshoot new equipment and respond to urgent maintenance needs. Occasional weekend work required.
Compile and follow weekly work orders for repairs and maintenance.
React to priorities and changes in work orders quickly and effectively.
Keep workshop area organized, safe, and clean.
Performs proper inventory control of parts and tools.
Be able to teach correct techniques and procedures for repairs and maintenance.
Work to advance company goals.
