A student transportation driver, or school bus driver, is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school and extracurricular activities, while maintaining a positive and orderly environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Safe Transportation:
Operate a school bus or van safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and school transportation policies.
Ensure the safety of students while boarding, riding, and disembarking the vehicle.
Maintain a clean and well-maintained vehicle.
Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe working order.
Student Supervision:
Supervise students on the bus, addressing any behavioral issues and maintaining a positive and safe environment.
Assist students with disabilities as needed.
Verify student permissions for riding home with friends.
Route Management:
Follow assigned routes and schedules accurately and punctually.
Communicate any route delays or issues to the appropriate authorities.
Communication and Collaboration:
Maintain open communication with parents, school staff, and transportation personnel.
Attend safety meetings and training as required.
Other Duties:
Assist with loading and unloading students, especially those with disabilities.
Enforce school rules of conduct on the bus.
Inform relevant staff if students are not arriving on time or if there are behavioral issues.
