Based in the Faison, North Carolina area, this exciting long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity is set in an engaging work place where hard work is rewarded. The Staff Accountant plays a major role in the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position will require a fair amount of time dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you'll also be charged with various aspects of internal reporting. You'll also review schedules for the reporting processes, stay in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and play an active role in compliance.What you get to do every single day
Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management
Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation Requirements - Strong familiarity with month end closings
Well-founded grasp of GAAP Accounting
Bank Account Reconciliation experience highly desired
Proven knowledge of Balance Sheet Reconciliation
Expertise in Accounts Receivable (AR)
Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
Balance Sheet Reconciliation experience
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
1+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
Detailed and have the ability work independently
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Efficient in ERP systems
