The Project Odyssey manager oversees the teams as they plan, manage, and execute all aspects of multi-day mental health workshops and virtual program delivery through a learning management system to provide support and resources to warriors and their families to enhance their resiliency and psychological well-being. The Project Odyssey Manager manages local and remote teammates, oversees the budget, and collaborates with internal and external resources to ensure alignment with strategic goals.Note: Project Odyssey is an up to 12-week program that encourages warriors to challenge themselves both physically and mentally while in a supportive environment. A typical 12-week Project Odyssey consists of a five-day experiential learning workshop and 11 weeks of follow up. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage a team of local and remote Project Odyssey Specialists having varying backgrounds, education, and experience.

Serve as a mentor to the team, developing their skills and abilities, and supporting them as they provide programmatic multi-day and virtual mental health workshops focused on enhancing warriors’ resiliency and psychological well-being.

Coordinate with the Regional Director on local and national initiatives.

Oversee execution of initial and ongoing training for Project Odyssey Specialist including program delivery, project management, internal operating procedures, electronic record keeping, and WWP programs and culture.

Oversee the development, coordination, planning, and execution of programmatic events and maximize programmatic impact.

Monitor team performance. Work in conjunction with the Metrics team to interpret the reports to help address performance challenges and identify opportunities to expand success. Utilize information gathered from all relevant sources including shadowing teammates to enhance the quality and effectiveness of Project Odyssey (face-to-face and virtually).

Manage overall facilitation of Project Odyssey including selecting participants, conducting the activities, facilitating psychoeducational workshops, and debriefing. Determine removal of participants if necessary, with limited to no supervision from manager.

Ensure the continuity of care of warriors and Family Support Members (FSMs) through appropriate resource referrals to external partners and internal programs.

Ensure case documentation and data are maintained accurately, timely, and appropriately within WWP internal databases. Review warrior referrals and cases and evaluate assessments and responses.

Promote a supportive working environment where employees are encouraged to proactively address issues and solve problems.

Establish effective working relationships and work collaboratively with all WWP programs and teammates.

Establish effective working relationships and work collaboratively with local and regional partners, i.e., Veterans Administration, Veteran Service Organizations, Mental Health Resources, and other partners that may further the WWP mission.

Plan and manage the program services delivered to WWP Alumni and FSM’s.

Evaluate Project Odyssey programmatic goals to identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Maintain current knowledge of available, relevant technologies and best practices to enhance efficiencies.

Leverage technical skills to achieve effective delivery of programming in a virtual environment.

Prepare briefings and reports for leadership.

Participate in strategic planning activities.

Participate in developing and managing department budget.

Other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE

Requirements:

Five years of experience facilitating veteran healthcare-focused programs, case management or business design.

Five years of experience working with military or veterans’ population in support of their development and readjustment.

Three years of direct staff management experience. Successful completion of WWP ELDP or comparable leadership development program may be considered at WWP’s discretion in lieu of the requirement.

Preferences:

Five years of experience working with and providing support to wounded service members who are dealing with both visible and invisible injuries, e.g., brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, other forms of military trauma and combat stress.

Four years of staff management or leadership experience.

Four years of experience working with brain injuries or mental health case management.

Three years of experience designing evidenced based programs.

EDUCATION

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, mental health counseling, human services, social work, recreational therapy, rehabilitation counseling, or related mental health field. A bachelor's degree in a business-related concentration may be considered with applicable combination of education, training, certification, or experience.

Preferences:

Master’s degree in psychology, mental health counseling, human services, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or related mental health field or a business-related field concentration.

CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURE

Requirements

Valid state-issued driver’s license.

Ability to obtain ASIST Certification within 1 year of hire.

Ability to obtain First Aid CPR/AED Certification within 1 year of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Participation in highly physical and demanding outdoor activities and events under varying weather conditions, e.g., high rope and low rope courses, water sports, hiking, climbing, horseback riding.

Up to 50% travel.
