We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable Machine Operator to join our team and contribute to our growing operations.
Job Description:
As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery used in the paving and asphalt industry. You will ensure the efficient and safe operation of equipment while maintaining quality standards on all paving projects. You will work closely with other team members to complete projects on time and to the client’s satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment, including pavers, rollers, skid steers, graders, and milling machines, for asphalt and paving projects.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and ensure machinery is in safe working condition.
- Assist in the setup, operation, and monitoring of machines during the paving process.
- Read and interpret job specifications, blueprints, and other project documents.
- Monitor the quality of materials being used and ensure uniform distribution of asphalt.
- Ensure proper compaction and smoothness of finished surfaces.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the safety of crew members and the public.
- Communicate with the site supervisor and other team members regarding project progress and equipment needs.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines, including minor repairs and refueling.
- Keep detailed logs of machine operation and report any issues or malfunctions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating paving machinery (e.g., pavers, rollers, skid steers).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; CDL preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of paving techniques and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work overtime or extended hours during peak seasons.
