"INTERNAL POSTING-Only temporary or permanent NCDOT employees or layoff candidates with the NC Department of Transportation eligible for RIF priority reemployment consideration as described by GS 126 May Apply.” This post is for an Administrative Specialist I located in Guilford County Traffic Services office. This position will perform a variety of office assistant duties in support of administrative programs or technical operations. Duties include typing, filing, copying, answering telephone, and directing calls. Good communication skills are necessary. Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures. Administer payroll/time entry in SAP system; personnel and other office duties such as typing correspondence, filing, and handling of incoming and outgoing mail. Must have knowledge of office equipment and related computer technology (Microsoft Windows, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Share Point, and SAP.) Process inventory, purchase orders, and accounts payable through SAP. This position will be required to process certified payroll.in Share Point. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / CompetenciesApplicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following:

Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues

Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Access, Word, and Excel

Experience completing and/or maintaining records and reports

Experience in record keeping

Experience with letter writing, using correct spelling, punctuation and prooing

Additional Expectations:Demonstrated ability to identify problems and provide a resolution. Ability to interpret and explain policies and procedures. Must be detailed oriented, self-motivated and able to multi-task, and have excellent communication skills. Must have experience answering multi-line phone, working independently and maintaining/organizing records. Must have ability to accurately use Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, etc.). Must have ability to communicate and respond to all inquiries and instructions in a timely manner. Must have ability to use proper grammar, vocabulary, spelling and office terminology to compose and proo all correspondence. Must be capable of working with minimal supervision. Position requires work during adverse weather such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. which can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends and holidays. Selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle.
