DescriptionJOB SUMMARYReporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager, Director, the Outpatient Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in an outpatient setting.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assesses patients attending the outpatient clinic to identify the healthcare needs of patients. This may include taking medical histories, medication refills, conducting physical examinations, and performing diagnostic tests.Performs routine medical procedures, such as administering injections, venipuncture, dressing wounds, and taking vital signs.
Develops and implements patient care plans in coordination with doctors and other members of the healthcare team. These plans may include medication schedules, wound care instructions, and follow-up appointment details.
Educates patients and their families on their conditions, treatment plans, medications, and lifestyle changes to manage their health effectively.Provides emotional support and counselling to patients and their families.
Collaborates with other healthcare professionals involved in the patient's care, including specialists, therapists, social workers, and home healthcare providers.Advocate for and educate patients on preventative care measures, such as regular screenings, balanced nutrition, and exercise.
Maintainsaccurate and detailed records of patients' medical histories, treatments, and progress. Ensures that all patient records are kept confidential and are up to date.
Adheres to all hospital and departmental safety policies and protocols andensure compliance with healthcare laws and regulations.Stays updated on the latest advancements in nursing care through continuous learning and professional development. Attend seminars, workshops, and other training sessions as required.
Advocates for patients' rights and needs, ensuring they receive the best possible care. Address any patient complaints or concerns, escalating them to management when necessary.
JOB SPECIFICATIONSSome outpatient settings may require Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification prior to performing clinical care. Training and certification opportunities will be provided.REQUIRED
Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina or one of the compact states by the first day of clinical care.
