Vacancy expired!
Hello,
I'm searching
for someone who would
like to join me on a new and exciting business adventure.
If you even
the slightest drop of entrepreneurial
blood flowing through your veins, have some graphic design chops, love
helping
others, and are eager to grow professionally and financially, then this
may be
the most exciting "job posting" you read all year!
Let me
explain.
My name is
Emette Massey. I own and
operate a small boutique direct mail advertising agency and want to
expand the
capabilities and expertise of my firm.
This is where
you come in . . .
If you're the
right person. . . .
You
can side step the standard employee status and fast forward into the
wild, wacky
and prestigious adventure as a BIZ OWNER.
Yes,
I said owner. You'll be a biz partner and share in all the perks,
excitement,
advantages . . .
.
. . and of course, revenues the business brings in.
ÂLikewise, you'll also share
in the
responsibilities, vision and guidance as we grow.
Here's
A Few Perks That This Opportunity Brings
Owner
Status. You're the Boss. Yes, you'll be the prime boss over creative
aspects of
this gig. You'll
direct, manage, create, hire, and fire up all aspects
of the creative department. Plus, you'll also help with overall
management of
the firm.
Side
Note. Now's a
good time to share my basic business philosophy. I believe your
business should
serve you, not drain you. With
that said, long ago I adopted
Michael Gerber's idea of working on the business, not in it. If you're
not sure what this means, check out Michael Gerber's outstanding
program The E-Myth Seminar.
Training
Resources. You'll
instantly have full and
total access to our complete business library. That equals lots and
lots of
dollars' worth of top-notch training materials
from some of the
most brilliant minds in business today. These include training on
sales, marketing,
copywriting, Âadvertising
and more right at
your fingertips. And it's growing all the time. A huge perk in and of
itself.
A
fun, energetic work environment. All work and
no play make for a
stressful, dreadful place to be . . . at any stage of the game. Great
things
happen when you're having fun. The creative juices tend to flow freely.
You
feel better at work and at home. Life takes on new luster. You're able
to deal
with petty problems more effectively. And on and on. So, let your free
flag fly,
have some fun and let's make great things happen. Yes, we do need to
get
projects completed on time but there's no reason you can't have some
fun doing
it.
Bring
you're A Game to the table. What drives
you? What makes you
tick? What is your perfect work environment? What kind of money do you
want to
earn? What's been holding you back so far? We're a creative test lab
for making
great happen. Bring it on! You'll be pivotal part of a stellar,
creative team. You'll
enter a new world where professional and financial growth, along with
teamwork and
fun prevail. It's not just a business. It's an adventure where we focus
on
getting the best results possible for on our clients.
Here are some
personal and
professional qualities that I'm looking for . . .
Be
Local. While this
is not a quality per se, you must live in the
Hickory area. I am not interested in partnering
with someone half way
across the country. While this sounds old school as hell, I enjoy
collaborating
with people face-to-face. There'll be times when we need to brain storm
on a
project, share ideas, and do our best work for the people paying us . .
. our
clients! And to do this, you need to live here. End of sermon.
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
A passion for businesses . . . you must like the
ideal that you are a
business owner. Sadly, it's not all cotton candy and rides. This
requires some
decision making, hard work and willingness to stick it out when times
are rough.
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
A great attitude. This is an absolute must. A
pleasant personality (no Nay
Sayers, ÂGloomy Gus
types please) is essential
and trumps nearly everything. Attitude affects everything and sometimes
it can
make or break the success of a business!
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
Willing to learn. You don't have to be a marketing
expert however you
must be willing to learn the basics of this business. Most small
businesses have
little understanding of what 'results' type advertising and marketing
entails.
Or how to create it. The core task of what we do is providing tangible,
countable results for our clients.
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
A dreamer. This business is part creative and part
scientific. Coming up
with new marketing and promotional ideas for business owners based on
sound,
and proven marketing ideas are what we get paid for.
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
A great sense of humor. This sorta ties into
attitude. No, we're not clowns
or into the comedy business but having a great sense of humor goes a
long way.
Besides, sometimes you just got to be able to laugh at yourself when
the chips
are down.
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
Able to work independently. Another big perk. You'll
have the freedom
and flexibility to work when and where you want to as
long as deadlines are met. I hate to admit but this business
runs on goals and deadlines.
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
Team player. While I'm suggesting that you'll
oftentimes be working independently
I still want someone who can share the same business and philosophy
vision that
I do . . . and that's putting the client first! It's NOT about us,
rather it's
about the client. Hint: Look up the word "client." Then look up the
word "customer."
This should give you a sense of what I'm talking about.
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
Be flexible. Like most small businesses we trade
hats once in a while,
roll with the punches and must step up to the plate with the spirit of
'get-r-done.'
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
Willing to work. You'll be earning your keep by
putting forth the
necessary effort to get the job done . . . again, under very
tight
deadlines at times. Yes, we do our best to schedule jobs with plenty of
lead time
but sometimes things stack up. Sorry, but it's the nature of this biz.
. .
Excellent
communication skills. Both written
and oral. You'll be communicating
with clients, understanding their needs and being able to convey these
ideas to
both the client and your team. So, communication is a biggie!
Here are a few
of the tech savvy
skills you'll need to possess . . .
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
Graphic design. InDesign, MS Publisher, Photoshop or
Gimp and various
web design tools of the trade. If you can use these tools effectively
and can
blend your creative ideas into a product design that our clients like,
you'll
do fine. Keep in mind you do not have to be an expert on using these
design
tools, but you should be able to render at least some basic designs
compatible with
direct response marketing.
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
Using Modern Office suites. This could be Microsoft
or Open Office.
While the majority of your time will be designing smart, eye friendly
publications, ads, landing pages and other collateral marketing
materials as
needed, you may be called on to do some writing (proposals, content,
etc).
ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ
Be idea person. Your job is to help create marketing
ideas and turn them
into tangible graphic designs. We'll also be rolling out various
published projects,
so you'll be helping there too.
Are You
Interested? Excited? Great!
Here's the first step:
Send us your
resume, a letter
telling us why you would be a good fit and links to three (3) original
graphic
designs you've done.
Once we've
pooled the most highly
qualified candidates, the you'll be scheduled for an interview.
Thanks!
