If you want to join a great team and bring enthusiasm, commitment and a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of our citizens, we are looking for you!Essential Functions/Typical TasksPlanning, developing, managing, and evaluating fitness/wellness activities and programs; teaching fitness and wellness classes; ensuring proper maintenance of all cardio and strength equipment. (The following tasks are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.)
Coordinates, schedules, and trains fitness/wellness staff and volunteers.
Coordinates and conducts a wide variety of fitness and wellness programs.
Teaches fitness and wellness classes.
Provides revenue producing programs and recommends policies and procedures to Department Head for consideration to minimize expenditures while providing a diversified fitness/wellness program.
Enforces standards of discipline and conduct by program participants.
Ensures routine maintenance of all cardio and strength equipment.
Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of fitness and recreation programming for all populations;
ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
ability to manage time effectively;
ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public;
ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, program participants, and the general public;
must possess strong customer service skills;
skill in the operation of standard office and data processing equipment;
ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
RequirementsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Exercise Science, Biology, Health Promotion or related discipline.
Must have a currently national recognized certification from one of the following American Council on Exercise (ACE), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), IDEA Health and Fitness Association (IDEAfit) or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) group fitness instructor.
Additional exercise certifications are preferred.
Previous experience teaching group exercise classes and personal training is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must work nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
Possession of an appropriate drivers license valid in the State of North Carolina is required.
Possession of CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification required or must be obtained during the initial six (6) months of employment.
The anticipated start date for this position is December 2, 2024.
