This position will serve as a Vehicle/Equipment Repair Supervisor II within the Division One Equipment Shop in Hertford. Supervises Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technicians, mechanic helpers and other semi-skilled trade personnel that perform a wide range of progressively responsible tasks involving service, repair, rebuild and diagnosis of a diverse number mechanical systems for a large variety of gas and diesel powered auto and heavy equipment. Responsible for determining the type of an extent of repair work needed and scheduling vehicles for maintenance repair work. Discuss repair assignments and determine that repairs have been made and vehicle and equipment are in proper operating condition. Prepare work reports on maintenance repair work done. Responsible to manage both parts and fuel and lube inventory assigned to shop. Responsible for all equipment assigned to Hertford; new equipment preparation and assist with surplus equipment sales. Work is performed in accordance with established practices and departmental procedures and policies and is evaluated through operational efficiency and effectiveness. Experience using SAP to receive, inventory, and bill parts, fuel and lubes

Additional Expectations:Must be able to legally operate a State vehicle. Must be able to obtain a valid NC Class A CDL with N endorsement within 360 calendar days of employment. Pre-employment drug testing is required. As a condition of employment, release forms (ALCDRG-01 and ALDCRG-06) must be signed allowing NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past three years about controlled substances and alcohol testing. Safety toe footwear is required. Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsSome state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both.
