The role of Lead Network Engineer is responsible for design, implementation, and roadmap planning of the enterprise network, security, and UC infrastructure that Martin Marietta depends on each day to operate our thriving organization. The position will work closely with senior staff and subject matter experts to ensure the strategic, technical, and business alignment for all network solutions and services. A comprehensive technical background in various IT disciplines including but not limited to Network, Security, Data Center, Applications/Services, Unified Communications, Mobile, and Cloud is necessary as the role will aid in defining the requirements and architecture for the overall IT environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain current and establish new governing principles for network design, deployment, and standardization
  • Participate in selection of networking technologies and products based on business needs and requirements
  • Evaluate technical needs, requirements, and health of the network design and operations
  • Develops solutions to complex enterprise problems that drive system and process efficiencies
  • Leverage technical and industry knowledge to exercise good judgment, trade-off evaluation and risk mitigation planning during the design and implementation project phases
  • Assists and/or provides direction to lower level technical personnel

Skills and Experience

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / MIS or equivalent experience required.
  • Adherence to and compliance with the Martin Marietta's shared values and Code of Ethics.
  • Must have the ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, be attentive to detail, and understand implications for the business.
  • Ability to work independently, or in groups, while maintaining a courteous attitude when dealing with customers and users.
  • Ability, and willingness, to complete several concurrent tasks in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, multi-tasking environment.
  • Ability to set objectives, manage project timelines and see projects to completion.
  • Ability to explain technical terms in everyday language.
  • Continually updates skills and knowledge.
  • Strong experience with Switching (VLAN, Spanning Tree, Industrial), Routing (EIGRP, BGP), WAN Technologies (MPLS, VPN, SD-WAN), Security (Firewalls, IDS, IPS, Web filtering), Wireless
  • Strong experience with Application Delivery Controllers (Reverse Proxy, Load Balancing)
  • Strong experience in Unified Communications
  • Advanced knowledge of network management and monitoring tools (SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog)
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to learn new technologies
  • 7+ years' of hands-on experience designing, configuring, implementing, and supporting enterprise architecture with an emphasis on networking, security, and UC technologies
  • 3+ years' experience designing large scale complex enterprise networks

Preferred:
  • CCNP, or other advanced level industry certifications
  • In depth knowledge of Cisco hardware and software
  • PKI and digital certificate management experience
  • Expertise in Managed File Transfer technologies
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley, PCI, and other IT security and governance standards
  • Packet capture and analysis knowledge for advance network troubleshooting
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a dynamic team environment
