AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Data Scientist to support integration of digital technologies in soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects based in North Carolina.Site investigations are conducted in accordance with Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), various NCDEQ Division of Waste Management Programs and other regulatory programs, many of which have data submittal requirements. The selected candidate will be primarily office-based, working with more experienced data managers to learn how to use data management software including setting up the databases, uploading data, processing and finalizing data tables, and processing electronic data deliverables from laboratories. The candidate will be responsible for setting up digital forms and tables for field applications.  In addition, the candidate will act as a liaison between project managers and the international data management team. Based on staffing needs, the selected candidate may conduct field tasks, which may include soil and groundwater sample collection and vapor sampling, to improve candidate’s understanding of the implementation of field tasks.The job responsibilities for the position will include but are not limited to:Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.Collects and enters data and applies technical principles and theories.Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.Work under the supervision of senior data managers to process data collected from field activities.Entry-level position; does not require previous experience.
