Job description: LPN: Position will perform routine Licensed Practical Nursing work in the care and treatment of patients, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, within a state correctional facility. Position is responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients, within the scope of practice to include, but not limited to, the following duties: screening, observing and assessing patients, providing basic wound care and personal care to patients, delivering routine respiratory therapy and other treatments, catheter and colostomy care, collecting vital signs and specimens, preparing and administering medications, administering/interpreting TB skin tests, observing and recording pertinent patient information, responding to emergencies, and assisting the Registered Nurse and Physician, as required. Individuals may be required to work any shift, weekends, and holidays. RN: Provides professional nursing care/treatment to patients in accordance with medical protocols, written policies and procedures, and the NC Board of Nursing scope of practice Work includes conducting sick call/assessment, assisting the physician, carrying out orders, planning implementing and evaluating nursing care. Position responds to medical emergencies, monitors for communicable diseases, counsels for compliance with diet, medications and treatment
