Japanese Sushi Restaurant Server
Akai Hana is a family-owned business located in Carrboro. We serve Sushi and Japanese cuisine. We are looking for someone semi-familiar with Japanese cuisine. It’s important to have have a strong sense of urgency and quickness, a good memory for taking orders & multitasking, and is very friendly accommodating with all of our customers.
We are looking for a reliable, upbeat, experienced individual to fill this part-time position. We request someone who enjoys and is familiar with sushi. This is NOT an entry level position. Prior restaurant experience is necessary. We are looking for someone who is committed to a long-term position, not just a season.
We care about our customers & community and would expect all staff to do the same and to represent the restaurant by being professional, respectable, and courteous. Should problems arise, it is expected that Servers are able to problem-solve while being customer-oriented and always remain calm and poised when dealing with customers. Often there are times of high volume in which the servers must be able to efficiently balance all work duties and keep a calm temperament.
I am looking to hire someone who is able to work optional lunch shifts as needed, Tuesday-Friday as well as some dinner shifts from Tuesday- Saturday and potential ability to sub-in additional shifts. We are not open Sunday or Monday. Hours will be determined on how comfortable individual is with menu and performance ability.
Pay is based on tips. Business is steady yearlong.
Job Description
Prior Industry experience is required
Must be familiar with Sushi & Japanese Cuisine
Must be able to work during busy Holiday Weekends
Ability to communicate professionally with customers
Must be sharp, quick, and able to multitask
Must have good memory and ability to take customer orders
Must memorize and be familiar with our entire food and beverage menu
Must be familiar with allergies, dietary restrictions, etc.
Ability to work well with other staff
Must be on time and have a positive attitude
Must have good eye sight to place orders on tablets
Must help with clearing and setting tables
Must have the ability to carry and balance trays, glasses, dishes
Must be intuitive and focused
Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to connect with customers
Must be willing to work hard and stay focused
Must have a flexible schedule and be able to cover as needed
