Raleigh-based criminal defense firm is seeking an associate attorney to start immediately. Our firm represents defendants facing criminal charges in Wake County courts and the Eastern District of North Carolina federal courts. The associate is to procure and manage cases through completion including initial client consultation, continued client communication, payment collection, and (when appropriate) trial. The associate is also expected to support the managing attorney by making court appearances, drafting pleadings, and helping with trial preparation.
Candidates must be currently licensed to practice law in North Carolina. Interest in trying cases is mandatory, and preference will be given to applicants with litigation and/or mock trial experience. Candidates with any amount of legal experience (even no experience) are welcome to apply. Current PDs and ADAs are encouraged to apply; all applications are held in confidence.
The ideal candidate will be driven, cooperative, non-judgmental, and detail-oriented. They should have great customer service, public speaking, writing, and sales skills. Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office is preferred.
The firm will pay a base salary plus incentives, paid time off, and Bar and CLE fees. Health and dental insurance are available.
