Ronald McDonald House of Durham (RMHD) is looking for a weekend and evening part-time Family Care Manager who will collaborate with other family care managers to create and maintain a safe, uplifting, home-like environment for our guest families.

Each year, thousands of families from the US and abroad travel to Durham to seek care at Duke Hospital for their critically-ill children. Duke is a world-class expert in departments such as Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplantation (PBMT) as well as other pediatric specialties.
When a child becomes ill, the entire family unit is affected. Families living at the Ronald McDonald House of Durham are undergoing one of the most stressful periods in their lives, trying to cope and understand their childs health crisis.

We exist as an organization to provide a home away from home so families do not have to worry about where they are going to sleep, what theyre going to eat but instead can focus on whats most important: their childs health and well-being.
Whether a child is receiving one day of care or undergoing long-term medical treatment, families who stay at the RMHD experience the comforts of home, including private bedrooms, inviting community spaces, home-cooked meals, along with a network of support from other families, volunteers and staff.
Your Role:
You will report to the Senior Family Care Manager and work collaboratively with the entire Family Care team.
The Family Care Manager is a person with excellent critical thinking skills and good judgement. He or she has a family-first attitude at all times with respect being paramount.
As a Family Care Manager, a typical shift you work may include the following:
Family Relations
Understanding and consistently enforcing our Guest Contract
Empathizing with families and creating meaningful interactions while maintaining appropriate boundaries
Efficiently checking-in and checking-out families
Promptly responding to medical professionals and family inquiries about policies and requests
Volunteers/Donors Relations
Welcoming and engaging with volunteer activity groups by offering assistance, inviting families to participate, and providing a tour of the facility if desired
Documenting incoming donations and putting them away in the appropriate locations
Welcoming and engaging with meal groups, ensuring the kitchen and dining room are clean before and after the group utilizes the space
Facility Responsibilities
All common areas should be maintained and tour ready at all times.
Knowledge of building and location of resources
Understanding and ability to implement emergency procedures
Completion of the shift checklist and daily projects
Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal skills
Ability to build and foster relationships with a variety of people
Attitude of continual improvement
Valid Drivers License & clean driving record
