Seeking a safety-minded individual to join our team as a Biosolids Recycling Technician. This position supports the Wastewater Treatment Plant by distributing the biosolids residuals beneficially back to the environment. This is accomplished by hauling the residuals using a tractor trailers and other heavy equipment.
Key responsibilities:
· Drives tanker trucks by loading the tanker at the Wastewater Treatment Plant or from off-site storage tanks and driving it to site to be applied as biosolids.
· Follows appropriate agronomic rates by spreading biosolids onto fields using a tractor and spreader; hauling dewatered solids to the designated disposal site via container on roll-off truck; maintaining daily work logs and submitting to supervisor; conducting routine maintenance on transport and spreading equipment; coordinating the applications of biosolids with participating farmers.
· Follows regulatory requirements by completing land application site inspections. Flags fields by maintaining knowledge of the Class A and Class B regulations; inspect the farmlands and mark the buffer zones.
· Gathers soil samples from application fields, reporting all information accordingly, and delivering samples for testing.
· Maintains access routes to land application fields, Wastewater Treatment Plant, off-site storage and pumpstations by spreading stone, clearing debris from the road, and cutting back tree limbs using various heavy equipment such as a skids-steers, excavators, tractors, loaders, and dump trucks.
· Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
· Requires a high school diploma or GED with at minimum one year experience driving a tractor trailer and operating heavy equipment.
· Requires the ability to maintain a North Carolina Commercial Class A Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement to include a Department of Transportation Medical certificate clearance.
· Attention to detail and ability to effectively communicate.
