Fabrication Shop Project Coordinator/Safety Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage daily shop operations, including workflow, materials, and equipment

Plan, schedule, and oversee projects

Coordinate with other departments and clients to ensure project specifications and requirements are met

Identify and correct problems and inefficiencies in process, materials, equipment, etc.

Prepare material and labor takeoffs

Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards

Schedule employees both onsite and offsite

Participates in shop planning, work scheduling and loading, materials and equipment acquisition and related activities to promote productivity and deliver finished products within contracted timeframes.

Utilizes fabrication skills to manufacture, customize and modify and/or assemble components as per design specifications and assists others with various stages of individual project completions.

Inspects completed work to ensure conformance to specifications, quality and customer satisfaction

Assists with administrative processing (ordering materials, checking in materials, etc.) Maintains an ongoing awareness of appropriate safety procedures in the shop and takes remedial actions as required.

Manage projects from initiation to closure and ensure shop paperwork is complete.

Review of customer quotes, specifications and drawings to develop bill of materials, determine testing and fabrication methods required, including outsourcing of items and services.

Arrange freight shipments if needed

Identify and proactively resolve issues and solve problems throughout project life cycle

Document and route for approval all project changes by initiating change notices

Track and report project milestones, initiating and leading recovery plan, as required.

Comply with all policies and procedures, and applicable safety and health rules.

Conduct weekly safety meeting with employees

Conduct monthly building safety inspections, schedule vehicles for maintenance

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities:

Must have fabrication experience

Must be able to read blueprints and drawings

Strong mathematical skills

Attention to detail

Knowledge of cutting, bending, and welding

Auto CAD is a plus

Must have strong communication skills
