Overview:Supports first line of defense risk management responsibilities for Asset Management. Assists the First Line Risk Officer in setting direction for the department and risk policy of the business. Interacts with state and Federal regulatory agencies, numerous risk and executive management committees, various lines of business and support organizations such as Audit and Legal on an ongoing and regular basis to ensure the business is operating within the Enterprise Risk Framework.Primary Responsibilities:Responsible for maintaining effective and efficient operation of the Asset Management’s committees ensuring they are operating as designed and adhering to all necessary requirements, including all meetings, content, presentations, and minutes.Ensure the effective and efficient management and reporting of issues, including appropriate escalation of identified issues and timely completion of remediation plans.Ensure Asset Management maintains proper controls to meet responsibilities as a regulated professional trustee and achieve satisfactory regulatory examinations and audits.Responsible for the review, development and enhancement of Asset Management policies, procedures, and business practices.Partner with the fiduciary team to identify key risk issues involving fiduciary accounts and activities, including identifying fiduciary issues in account transactions to route to the correct committee or person to be assessed and resolved appropriately.Partner with Fiduciary Management leadership team to identify systemic risk issues that mitigate risk and enhance operations of the fiduciary organization.Actively participate in the fiduciary decision-making process to effectively identify, manage, and mitigate risks inherent in trust administration and assist in building of commensurate controls to lessen risk and enhance the control environment.Develop effective working relationships with the Asset Management leadership team, key business partners and senior leaders of the Division.Participate in regulatory examinations and internal audits pertinent to the Institutional Services and Wealth Management Division and work with second line of defense.Develop a thorough understanding of the business and its functions, processes, and operations. Remain current on business and market trends affecting the business and Department.Identify and execute on projects, initiatives and innovations designed to mitigate risk and enhance delivery and profitability of Asset Management services across the Division.Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assigned.Scope of Responsibilities:This position works independently, with guidance from management, and is required to exercise independent judgment, discretion, and decision-making and may include decision-making on behalf of higher management as required by absence. This position has substantial contact with internal departments and positions within the Bank and its subsidiaries, including senior management. The jobholder is required to establish and maintain ongoing effective working relationships with external contacts, including but not limited to regulators, attorneys, vendors, and peers at other institutions.Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:Not ApplicableEducation and Experience Required:Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experienceStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong analytical skillsStrong problem-solving skillsExperience interacting with all levels of personnelEducation and Experience Preferred:Advanced degreeMinimum of 10 years’ relevant work experiencePhysical Requirements:M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $93,614.36 - $156,023.93 Annual (USD).
