Overview:Prepares federal and state tax returns for entity structures using financial reports, reconciliations and other accounting-related activities generally of a more complex nature. Ensure all internal and external deadlines are met, while maintaining accuracy and compliance with Bank policies, GAAP, regulatory and/or contractual requirements.Primary Responsibilities:Prepare federal and state tax returns based on a client’s financial reports, reconciliations and other accounting-related activities generally of a more complex nature to provide timely draft tax returns for review and signing by internal and/or external partners; ensuring all internal and/or external deadlines are met, while maintaining accuracy.Responsible for assigned clients and corresponding tasks and tax returns, with supervision and review.Prepare 1065 and 1041 tax returns. Experience with 990 tax returns and/or private foundations a plus.Maintain strong working relationships with internal service partners. Interact with internal contacts and other departments as well as external clients, third parties and/or vendors as required.Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assigned.Education and Experience Required:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field with significant Accounting coursework and a minimum of 2 years’ accounting, tax and/or financial institution or other relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ accounting, tax and/or financial institution experience.Knowledge of accounting applications and pertinent spreadsheet and word processing softwareExcellent verbal and written communication skillsComplex research, analytical, and problem-solving skillsDetail-oriented with organizational and documentation proficiencyStrong interpersonal skillsEducation and Experience Preferred:Certified Public Accountant (CPA)MBA (Master’s degree in Business Administration), Masters’ of Science degree or other relevant advanced degreeFinancial services and/or securitization industry accounting experienceA minimum of 2 years tax work experience preparing moderate to complex returns and knowledge of CCH Axcess or other comparable tax software#LI-LP1#WT#remoteLocationWilmington, Delaware, United States of AmericaM&T Bank Corporation is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, including disabilities and veterans.
