Responsibilities:
The Director of Construction is responsible for directing all construction operations while held accountable to the Executive Director for operational and strategic decisions made within the department.
Duties
Direct all construction programs to complete the expected number of projects on time, within budget and adhering to safety and quality expectations
Establish overall organizational structure for construction operations to best utilize resources available to the affiliate
Develop annual build schedule, maintaining appropriate check points to accomplish production commitments
Manage construction staff to complete the annual build schedule
Together with Executive Director, manage overall land use program including property acquisition/sales, land development and appropriately tracking properties to best utilize assets at hand
Manage construction volunteer coordination to shepherd a meaningful experience where the volunteers are effectively recruited, implemented and appreciated
As HFHI Competent Person, lead efforts toward accomplishing a comprehensive construction safety program
Direct maintenance and repair of BCHFH owned properties
Requirements
Committed to Cape Fear Habitat for Humanitys mission
NC General Contractor License and 5+ years residential construction management experience
Knowledge, skill and abilities relative to building codes, zoning ordinances and general construction and building regulations.
Prepare accurate material take-offs, equipment needed, and cost estimates for each project.
Secure professional subcontractors, as needed
Create vendor list and process for strategic requests for in-kind material donations from regular suppliers
CPR/First Aid training
Ability to work on construction sites as expected of the Crew Leaders: lifting 50 lbs. unassisted, climbing ladders/scaffolding, working on roof and maneuvering
Valid drivers license subject to insurance requirements. Current Certified MVR must be provided with application
Understanding of construction process and timeline
Attention to detail and ability to comply with regulations, codes, and procedures
Independent worker with minimal supervision necessary
Computer, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening test
