BECEP-Head Start Instructional Aide

Bismarck Public Schools is accepting applications for an Instructional Aide at BECEP/Head Start.This position will work 35 hours per week.This is a fast-paced position that requires multi-tasking, focus, attention to detail and initiative.QUALIFICATIONS:

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, AA in Early Childhood Education or the ability to obtain either within 2 years of hire.

Head Start Coordinator

SALARY CLASSIFICATION:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Will know, understand, and support the Personnel Policies and Procedures of BECEP and Bismarck Public Schools.

Will attend all pre-service and in-service training, and meetings as required.

Will participate in daily planning, implementing, and evaluating classroom activities and child performance with the classroom teacher.

Will assist the teacher in scheduling and conducting home visits.

Will work with individual or groups of children, without direct supervision, throughout the school day.

Will assist the teacher with the supervision and care of children during school hours.

Will assist the teacher in the training and supervision of volunteers.

Will assist in the preparation and serving of breakfast, lunch and snack as requested.

Will assist with loading and unloading buses, dressing, toileting, diapering, washing, and tooth brushing activities as needed.

Will assist a substitute teacher and ensure childrens needs are being met in the absence of the teacher.

Will be responsible for all assigned documentation.

Will respect the cultural and ethnic values of families.

Will maintain confidentiality regarding BECEP children and families.

Will demonstrate a caring approach when working with children and families.

Will communicate all child information and questions to teacher.

Must be physically able to lift and carry children and equipment. (Up to 25 pounds)

Will be aware of and follow all safety and emergency procedures.

Will act as a positive, contributing team member.

Will provide own transportation.

Other related duties as assigned.

EVALUATIONS:

All jobs will be evaluated on a formal basis at least once per calendar year. Additional evaluation may be required at the discretion of the supervisor.
