Speech Language Pathologist

Responsible for working with students who are identified with language disabilities, articulation dysfluent speech, and voice disorders. Specific duties include: (1) communicating, collaborating, and cooperating with colleagues, supervisors, and students; (2) serving as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement; (3) serving as a resource to teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments; (4) providing a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, and language impairments; (5) providing screening to identify speech-impaired children as requested by Child Study Teams; (6) assisting in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community; (7) providing appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students’ needs and correct existing speech or language disabilities; (8) planning curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods using research and/or evidence based practices; (9) preparing educational records, IEP forms, classroom observation records, and other surveys and forms in a timely manner; (10) collaborating with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement programs throughout the student’s daily activities; (11) providing information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate; and (12) performing related speech language pathologist duties.

Requirements: Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, or a related field (foreign credential equivalency accepted) and valid North Dakota Educator’s Professional License.
