Pay Info: Pay starts at $26 and increases according to years of applicable experience.Job SummaryGather, analyze, design, develop, modify, test, implement, evaluate, and maintain clinical information technologies to support clinical practice. Use data to support clinical decision-making and identify desired outcomes. Able to research, analyze and make recommendations for application work flow improvements and create and analyze reports created using multiple reporting mechanisms. Utilize Tier Two/high level of customer service while promoting and participating in the team approach.Possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, as well as excellent time management and prioritization skills. Training presentation techniques and skills. Proficient verbal and written communication skills and efficient use of Microsoft Office software. A positive attitude and superior customer service skills.Skill level needed to become proficient in Sanford assigned applications as well as a basic knowledge of other Sanford applications. Demonstrate basic knowledge and support of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) philosophies in daily work. Skillful in adapting to change. Adjusts to new or changing assignments, processes, and people. Identifies and considers alternative approaches to situations or problems. A willingness to maintain active knowledge in area of specialty in order to maintain current clinical practice and end user perspectives.QualificationsMinimum of an Associates Degree in a clinical field or at least three years of clinical experience in their specialty preferred.Previous experience in Information Technology is preferred.Depending upon location, be licensed/registered/certified in a clinical field within Sanford’s footprint. Information Technology (IT) certification should be obtained within six months of date of hire. IT certification must be completed within three attempts of certification testing.Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) application certification and truth should be obtained within six months of hire date.   • Summary The Specialty Care AMSA will be a part of an Oncology Team that consists of a Provider, RN, and LPN. This team will provide Oncology services to Fargo VA and on-site services to our CBOC\'s to reduce Community Care dollars. As needed, the AMSA will provide support to other Specialty Medicine ICC teams, impacting the administrative aspect of patient care through specialized and coordinated appointments, using advanced clinic access principles, collecting, updating pertinent information. Responsibilities The Advanced Medical support Assistant (AMSA) provides clerical administrative support in the coordination, care, and treatment provided to patients throughout the Specialty Care Integrated Clinical Community (ICC), to include Pulmonary, Cardiology, Hospice, Palliative, Kidney, Oncology, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Infectious Disease, Diabetic Ed, and other specialty care areas. The incumbent\'s work impacts the administrative aspect of patient care, including access, specialized scheduling/coordinating appointments using advanced clinic access principles, collecting, and updating demographic and insurance information, patient processing, and customer service. The incumbent plays an integral role in identity and developing ways to resolve problems with the administrative and clinical staff on access, customer service, patient flow, revenue, and data validation issues. Assignments consist of significant scope, administrative independence, and complexity that vary in range. The responsibilities often require a high degree of judgement in responding to both employee and patient concerns and providing solutions to problems as they affect day to day operations. The major duties of this position include but are not limited to: Making specialized administrative judgment and the flexible use of a wide range of clinical flow processes relating to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or care in the community resources. Recommending changes to existing clinic procedures based on current administrative guidelines and has expertise in utilizing numerous advanced patient systems in support of multiple clinics involved in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model. Coordinating with the patient care team to review clinic appointment availability and utilization to ensure that clinic schedules are closely monitored to effectively support the needs of the clinics and makes recommendations for change as necessary. Developing and maintaining effective communication with the patient, interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model teams, VA medical centers, and other agencies (e.g., assist with communications during the inpatient to outpatient discharge, communicate with non-VA medical facilities, manage a system for follow-up care such as consults, tests procedures etc.). Scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling patient appointments and/or consults; entering no-show information. Participating in team huddles and team meetings to manage, plan, problem solve, and follow up with patient care by sharing information and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. Setting priorities and deadlines, adjusting the flow and sequencing of the work to meet team and patient needs. Identifying incomplete encounters, communicates findings to providers, as needed. Assisting the team in reinforcing the plan of care and self-help solutions; enters appropriate information into the electronic record. Providing orientation/training on clinic procedures to new or relief staff, as necessary. EXPERIENCE: One year of experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level that equips the candidate with the following: 1. Operate computerized programs and systems in order to enter, modify, and retrieve sensitive medical and patient identifying information (PII) into or from electronic health records, scheduling systems, and/or reports. 2. Schedule medical appointments in a clinical setting. 3. Work independently in the accomplishment of a wide variety of duties performing patient support work. 4. Communicate effectively and professionally in person, electronically, and/or by telephone, with internal and external customers. 5. Customer service with the ability to identify customer concerns and refer to the appropriate staff, as necessary, to ensure a satisfactory resolution. Ability to independently set priorities and organizes work to meet deadlines, ensuring compliance with established processes, policies and regulations. 3. This may include preparing reports in various formats and presenting data to various organizational levels, as well as resolving patient concerns. 4. Advanced knowledge of the technical health care process (including, but not limited to, scheduling across interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community models and patient health care portals) as it relates to access to care. 5. Advanced knowledge of policies and procedures associated with interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community operational activities that affect patient flow, and patient support care administrative functions to include, but not limited to appointment cycles, outside patient referrals, follow-up care, overbooking, provider availability, etc. 6.
