Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing

Follows standard operating procedures for MLS/MLTs

Ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met

Recognizes safety hazards and complies with all safety practices and protocols

Collects and processes lab specimens with proper equipment

Performs clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods

Collect and manage samples of blood and other fluids from patients

QualificationsBachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible. Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable. Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.   • Summary The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) works in the Rehabilitation and Extended Care ICC. The incumbent serves as an AMSA and provides clerical administrative support in the coordination, care, and treatment provided to patients throughout the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services programming. This includes Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Recreational Therapy, as well as collaboration with Prosthetic Services. Responsibilities Major duties include but are not limited to: Providing specialized and expert administrative patient care while working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model. Recommending changes to existing clinic procedures based on current administrative guidelines. Ability to independently set priorities and organizes work to meet deadlines, ensuring compliance with established processes, policies and regulations. 3. Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively, electronically, by phone, in person, and in writing, with internal and external customers. This may include preparing reports in various formats and presenting data to various organizational levels, as well as resolving patient concerns. 4. Advanced knowledge of the technical health care process (including, but not limited to, scheduling across interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community models and patient health care portals) as it relates to access to care. 5. Advanced knowledge of policies and procedures associated with interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community operational activities that affect patient flow, and patient support care administrative functions to include, but not limited to appointment cycles, outside patient referrals, follow-up care, overbooking, provider availability, etc. 6. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology due to the technical nature of language utilized by clinicians.
