Heat Plant Operator

Position Summary:
The Heat Plant Operator is responsible for maintaining a uniform flow of steam by fueling a high-pressure gas, coal, or oil-fired boiler. This position is also responsible for maintaining all related equipment to boiler room, assisting Heating Plant personnel maintenance, working on manhole valves, air compressors, steam converters and other campus equipment. Other duties may include providing campus building security.
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent; valid drivers license; physical ability to perform the job (Positions in this class typically require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, driving, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 75lbs., etc.; basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and experience using e-mail; mechanical aptitude; must have the ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and holidays; availability for emergency call-backs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to work independently, and previous boiler experience preferred. Experience may include operation of high-pressure coal, gas, or oil-fired boilers, and related auxiliary systems. Demonstrated mechanical abilities. Experience with operating a skid steer.
Compensation:
$29,000 - $32,000. Comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid full family coverage for health insurance, retirement, and tuition waiver benefits.
