PRN, as needed position to assist with all areas of plant operations, including preventive maintenance, heating and cooling operations, general plumbing, electrical and carpentry skills, and the capability to trouble shoot and complete various work orders.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. The Plant Operations Technician is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the facility's grounds, including mowing and fertilizing lawn, snow removal and upkeep of trees, shrubs, and flowers. These functions require the ability to operate lawn mowers, tractors, chain saw, edger and other power tools associated with these functions. This may also include the supervision of seasonal/temporary employees.
2. The incumbent is responsible for the operation of the facility's heating and cooling equipment, including the boiler, keeping the equipment in good repair and the boiler room neat and clean.
3. This position is responsible for the facility's preventive maintenance program. Reviews the schedule periodically with the Maintenance Director and completes the necessary preventive checks and balances, reporting preventive maintenance checks to the Director as identified in the program (computerized or otherwise).
4. Performs safety and infection control procedures to ensure a safe and clean environment. This includes understanding and following the procedures relating to wandering residents, fire, severe weather, universal precautions, and safe operation of any equipment used. The Plant Operations Technician is responsible for keeping all shop areas clean, safe and in order and is responsible for removal of garbage from offices and building and grounds as needed and packaging and removal of medical waste from the facility.
5. All other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director or Administrator, including completion of work orders, back-up bus driver, and receiving freight and distribution of supplies.
