Position SummaryThe purpose of this position is to prioritize and supervise the daily operations of the Products, Packaging, and Special Projects Department. The Supervisor must demonstrate adequate technical/chemical knowledge of the methods and techniques used in the laboratory. Additionally, the Supervisor must schedule and delegate workloads for timely completion as well as communicate this information with the other departments and the Production Manager.Roles and ResponsibilitiesEnsure that health and safety guidelines are followedEnsure implementation and evolution of safety procedures in conjunction with the Production ManagerPlan, coordinate and direct the day to day operations of the Products, Packaging, and Special Projects teamRun machinery, conduct trouble shooting, and advanced maintenance when problems ariseDevelop training, implement the training, and ensure employees are properly trained on laboratory techniques, running machinery, laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and packaging techniquesAbility to use foresight to anticipate customer needs by keeping up with inventory both internally and externally including materials, work in progress, and finished productAssist in quoting, scheduling, producing and shipping Special Project ordersCommunicate directly with clients of Special Projects in the absence of the Special Projects CoordinatorCreate schedules with employeesHandle review and approval of timesheets of employees in conjunction with Team LeadsProvide necessary reports to Production Manager as requested on status of the department or projectsShare process improvement ideas with the Production Manager and develop and implement them as neededDemonstrate advanced organic standard production techniques including small volume weigh ins and precise syringe additionsDemonstrate advanced inorganic standard production techniques and knowledge of chemical interactionsAssist in the development of new products and quoting when requestedAbility to apply chemical and process knowledge across product linesLead by the LGC core values on a day-to-day basis and manage team to be collaborative, efficient, and values basedEffectively manage, evaluate and direct the work of a team of employeesCoordinate with administrator to schedule ship dates for Products and Special ProjectsIdentify and prevent production bottlenecks to improve efficiencies and workflowsEnsure quality and consistency of products and their packagingMaintain accurate SOP’s for processes done within the Products, Packaging, and Special Projects department and ensure that employees are following the SOP’sProvide feedback to group members regarding performance and career developmentWork closely with Human Resources on areas such as recruiting, hiring, performance reviews, employee relations issues, and culture initiativesSupport and lead change initiatives that occur within the organizationPerform other duties as assigned
