Williston Basin School District #7 -Maintenance DepartmentFLSA:Non-ExemptReports to: Maintenance DirectorJob Summary:Highly skilled work in the mechanical repair of buses and automotive vehicles and other equipment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Determines vehicle and equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifies worn and damaged parts for repairs.

Does major overhauls and tune-ups on diesel engines and equipment.

Performs major brake overhaul on hydraulic and air brakes in buses

and passenger vehicles

.

Tests hydraulic pressures and overhauls hydraulic motor pumps and cylinders as required.

Performs tests and inspects vehicles and equipment prior to and following repairs, while maintaining records of services performed and parts installed.

Performs work after-hours

on an as needed basis.

Performs tests and inspects vehicles and equipment prior to and following repairs, while maintaining records of services performed and parts installed.

Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

Completes DOT Inspection of school vehicles.

Maintains and manages a safe working environment through observation and performance.

Performs a variety of duties to include, but not limited, to vehicle maintenance and body repair.

Balances team and individual responsibilities; to give and welcome feedback; contributes to building a positive team spirit; to support the team

.

Prioritizes and plans work activities and completes them in an efficient manner.

Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; reports potentially unsafe conditions.

Operate snow removal equipment.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and materials of the welding trade and the automotive mechanic and bus and heavy equipment trade.

Knowledge of the properties of ferrous and non-ferrous metals used in welding work.

Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of trades.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to interpret and work for sketches, diagrams, and broken parts.

Ability to diagnose mechanical defects in automotive equipment and to determine adequate corrective measures.

Skill in the use and care of the tools and equipment of the welding trade and the automotive mechanic trade.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

Basic computer skills preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Certification or training from recognized school or training cen er, experience with International and Cummins brand engines.

High school diploma or GED.

Must have a valid state of North Dakota commercial Class B driver license with airbrake P and S Endorsements or have the ability to obtain within 6 months.

Must be insurable under the School District motor vehicle insurance policy.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, lie on the floor and use hands to handle equipment.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl and talk and hear.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration.
