Assistant Manager
Job Description
Major Function:
To assist the Management in the operation of the center with assigned responsibilities and functions.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Directs inside promotional activities involving tournaments, leagues and teams, special events, learn-to-bowl programs, etc.
2. Assists in direction of counter control, maintenance and janitorial personnel
3. Assists in direction of food and beverage operations, as applicable
4. Assists in the preparation of financial records and handles center closing operations
5. Assists in scheduling of center personnel
6. Assists in the operation of the control counter
7. Retains bowlers through implementation of sound customer relations practices
8. Performs training assignments and completes testing requirements a directed
9. Provides friendly, courteous, polite and helpful customer service
10. Prepares hourly payroll report
11. Prepares schedules for hourly employees
12. Performs outside sales calls by going to individual businesses to book parties
13. Performs group presentations to bowling parties by communication skills
14. Prepares daily bank deposits by counting and verifying deposits
15. Fills and balances changer by counting and verifying monies
16. Fills and balances vending machines by counting and verifying monies and stock
17. Conducts operations for physical inventories
18. Assists center opening operations, opening doors, counting money, using terminal cash register
19. Assists center closing operations, locking doors, counting money using terminal cash register
20. Organizes and implements tournaments and learn-to-bowl programs
21. Organizes special events
22. Prepares change for petty cash; counts, retrieves small change from bank
23. Works closely with league secretaries and attends or runs league meetings.
24. Develops league bowlers through outside sales, in-house promotion, and learn-to-bowl classes
25. Supervises work of hourly employees
26. Assists in interviewing prospective hourly employees
27. Conducts training programs for hourly employees
28. Fills in for missing hourly employees in all job categories
29. Orders stock and controls inventory
30. Provides safe environment for customers
31. Maintains a safe work environment and works safely
32. Closes and/or opens bowling center
33. Motivates employees
34. Attends work regularly and exhibits positive attitude
35. Performs other duties as assigned by management
Supervision:
Directly supervises: all center employees.
Special job requirements:
Must be able to work nights and weekends and supervise hourly personnel in handling customers in busy retail environment
Prior experience required to perform job:
One year of bowling experience, retail experience. Customer service, limited supervisory experience. Leadership abilities.
