Software Developer with Focus on Database Technologies (Hudson, OH)
Compensation: $35-$60 per hour commensurate with experience
Part-time or full-time available
iCompute is a small, nimble team of software engineers and designers who love building high-end custom software for Ohio businesses. We are looking for a self-motivated developer to help us build database software and related tools from the ground up.
The applicant must be intimately familiar with existing database technologies (i.e. relational databases like MySQL, document databases like MongoDB, etc.) and have a burning desire to learn much, much more. It should be noted that platform-specific or language-specific knowledge is not very important.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, and testing database software, libraries, and tools;
- Building full-stack (mostly server-side) web applications with a cutting-edge technology stack;
- Working independently on projects and tasks;
- Researching and learning new technologies that can be used for our projects;
- Providing regular updates to project manager with regard to project progress and outstanding issues.
Our ideal candidate is creative; able to work independently; well-versed in programming language concepts; eager to learn new technologies; and, perhaps most importantly, interested in pushing the boundaries of database technology.
Qualifications:
- Strong background in data modeling (i.e. schema design) and/or "backend" software development;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Firm command of web technologies (i.e. HTTP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript);
- Confident using version control systems (i.e. Git).
Proficiency in one or more of the following is a bonus:
- Go, Rust, C, or C;
- Redis, MongoDB, Apache Kafka or any other "NoSQL" database;
- Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms;
- Graphic design and/or UI/UX design.
This position may range from 20 to 40 hours per week depending on the applicant's flexibility.
This position offers flexible work hours and the ability to work remotely.
