Job Description:

The Defense Group at Leidos has a dynamic job opportunity for an intermediate level Reliability Engineer with an Aero-structure focus to support manufacturing and production of the United States Air Force (USAF) AgilePod® variants. This position is located in our Dayton, Ohio office, where we support fielding new systems/products to the various emerging USAF Life Cycle Management Center (LCMC) programs related to the AgilePod® family of systems. You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert to enable the program to translate test and repair data into actionable analysis. In this role, you will help design, certify & support AgilePod® maturation efforts by applying state-of-art reliability and maintainability engineering design, modeling and analysis principles. You will work independently and collaboratively, in an investigative role, where detailed processes and procedures are not always specified.

Primary Responsibilities

Oversee AgilePod® reliability testing and analysis through product lifecycle

Lead and document FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) studies

Contribute to failure analysis and use correct methodology to identify root cause of failures

Collaborate with cross-functional disciplines to understand emerging designs and technologies

Responsible for identifying risks associated with these various technologies and architectures and provide mitigation strategies

Develop new reliability test specifications and procedures

Conduct product design Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)

Conduct service life maintainability and timeline evaluations to forecast service life of components

Perform aerospace engineering reliability analyses including: mission reliability requirements/performance parameters and mean time between failure, predictions, and allocations.

Administratively provide, track, and maintain status of contract deliverable requirements list (CDRLs) pertaining to Reliability Engineering tasks.

Assist in producing or reviewing reliability documents for program office use that support the breadth of the projects acquisition and life cycle sustainment efforts.

The use of modeling, simulation and data analytics methodologies & tools including statistical and probabilistic analyses

Participate in the definition, development, and implementation of processes and tools needed to execute reliability, maintainability, and system health functions and engineering supportability to improve productivity, accuracy, quality, and efficiency.

Regularly monitor, interpret, and integrate complex technical aerospace engineering data from a wide variety of sources.

Ensure designs are assessed against the engineering specifications and customer requirements for reliability, availability, and maintainability.

Perform failure analysis on defective components and determine failure modes at the component level. Correlate the failure observance of the system with failures modes to drive corrective and preventive actions that meet acceptable reliability standards.

Job Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below

Related Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 yrs. of relevant work experience or a Masters with a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience.

Manufacturing and Production experience related to aerospace/aero structure products

Expert in Design for Reliability (AgilePod® system design reliability requirements validation & verification, reliability requirements allocation to suppliers, failure modes, rates, effects, propagation and detection analysis, architecture & operational provisions, certification analysis, certification support, reliability & durability testing)

Ability to work successfully with all levels of engineering, program management, and program leadership, AFLCMC directorates and headquarters, AFRL, HQ AFMC, prime contractors and subcontractors, and other government and private sector personnel.

Exceptional writing and presentation skills.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, and as part of a multi-disciplined team.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office applications.

A current DoD Secret level of clearance

Up to 10% CONUS travel

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration

A Master's degree in engineering, physics, statistics or a related field

Experience supporting a USAF or DoD aviation development / flight test program

Familiarity with configuration management databases such as PTC Windchill

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license and/or military aviation maintenance background

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
