Here, you will work alongside passionate and dedicated caregivers, receive endless support and appreciation, and build a rewarding career with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world.As a Medical Librarian, you will provide advanced professional library services in identification, location, retrieval, and delivery of relevant information sources such as the selection, development, organization, and management of library collections, including in print, non-print, or electronic formats.A caregiver in this position works 8:00am - 4:00pm.A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide advanced reference assistance to assist patrons' choice and use of resources appropriate to their needs.

Research complicated inquiries and provide appropriate responses, including customized bibliographies and information packets.

Utilize familiarity with the content, organization, selection, and appropriate application of resources including databases such as MEDLINE (and the MeSH vocabulary), Web of Science, OhioLINK databases, and the Internet.

Guide users to appropriate sources of information and manage the delivery of requested materials.

Design and develop programs to teach effective, efficient use of library resources, research skills, and library services, including the preparation and delivery of formal and informal presentations to groups or individuals.

Provide advanced professional library services in one or more of the following areas: identification, location, retrieval, and delivery of relevant information sources such as the selection, development, organization, and management of library collections.

Orient, educate, and train library users in effective use of appropriate library resources and services.

Publicize and manage the organization of library resources, services, and programs.

Maintain accurate records of the library's materials and resources and present this information through appropriate interfaces.

Maintain quality and integrity of CCF holdings information in one or more of the following: library's catalog (using the Innovative Interfaces integrated library automation system), electronic journal management software (such as Serials Solution and ArticleLinker), and/or regional and national holdings lists (e.g. OhioLINK, OCLC, Serhold).

Uphold the quality and comprehensiveness of Author Database, using bibliographic management software such as Reference Manager and Reworks, portals for electronic resources, library's web site for the presentation of all of these resources.

Manage library resources and the physical management of the collections, including appropriate space planning.

Select library resources appropriate for the support of the CCF mission.

Select subject expertise and familiarity with programs and usage patterns in monitoring professional literature and offerings of publishers and vendors, soliciting user suggestions and evaluations, and evaluating content and audience, in order to build appropriate library collections, which includes de-selecting (weeding) materials no longer appropriate for our collection.

Perform collection analyses and formulate collection development policies.

Recommend budget support levels for various aspects of the library collection, and monitor expenditures to remain within budget.

Circulate materials from our collection by using the Innovative Interfaces integrated library automation system by maintaining accurate patron records, recommending circulation policies, protecting confidentiality, and pursuing overdue materials.

Provide copies of materials (especially copies of journal articles), from print or electronic sources, requested and delivered in a variety of ways, such as investigation, recommendation, implementation, and management of appropriate electronic request/delivery mechanisms such as ILLiad.

Obtain requested materials through inter-library loan from a wide variety of local, regional, or national sources which Includes use of mechanisms such as Docline, OCLC, and OhioLINK's Pcirc, approving invoices for these transactions, and assuring copyright compliance.

Provide materials requested from collections by other libraries (Docline, OCLC, OhioLINK Pcirc), including record-keeping and billing for these transactions.

Provide input of other librarians or non-exempt workers for their performance evaluations.

Share responsibility for carrying the "librarian on call" pager and negotiating requests for emergency service or after-hours library access.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Master's degree in library/information science.

Four years of professional experience (post MSLS) including two years in medical/life sciences-related activities, such as reference/instruction, collection development, cataloging and e-resources.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Any of the following AHIP levels: Provisional, Member Level, Senior Member Level, Distinguished Member Level or Emeritus Member Level.

Credentialing by the Medical Library Association's (MLA) Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) or working toward AHIP.
