Security Assistant (PIV) position serves in a confidential and

sensitive capacity. The incumbent will coordinate and enforce

procedures and processes for the PIV Program at the Chillicothe VA

Medical Center.Learn more about this agencyResponsibilitiesThe Security Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day operations

of the Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Office. The incumbent

will work closely with internal and external customers to include

Staffing, Academic Affairs, Contracting and Voluntary Services.

Major duties include:- Issuing or re-issuing PIV badges for a multitude of employees,

volunteers, contractors and students on a recurring basis.- Maintaining positive working relationships (i.e., providing

excellent customer service) while ensuring that procedures and

processes are followed and information safeguarded.- Obtaining and transmitting fingerprints to various other medical

centers and the Office of Personnel Management.- Maintaining all PIV workstation and associated equipment (e.g.,

cameras, fingerprint capture and verify machines).- Routine clerical duties (e.g., ordering supplies as needed,

maintaining spreadsheets and other logs, responding to routine

inquiries etc.)Work Schedule: Monday through Friday - 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.;

May include evenings and weekend hours.

QualificationsYou may qualify based on your experience and/or education as

described below:Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized

experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-04) in

the normal line of progression for the occupation in the

organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically

include, but are not limited to: performing administrative tasks

pertaining to security; accurately explaining and carrying out

established procedures; safeguarding confidential information.

OR,Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required

experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you

must have 4 years above high school which was obtained in an

accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior

college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study

is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent

in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom

instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business,

secretarial, or technical school.OR,Combination: Applicants may also combine education and

experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of

specialized experience and education beyond high school.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer

work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps,

AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional;

philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and

skills and can provide valuable training and experience that
