Azure Cloud Architect for Data Management Platform
The Data Management Platform (DMP) is a major initiative at Kroger that provides a platform for running analytics to support different business areas across the enterprise. DMP is built entirely on Azure services and over the years it has evolved into a very stable product. Kroger is looking to take advantage of improvements in technology and evolving requirements to enhance the platform for the future. We are looking for a Cloud Architect to help us take the Platform to the next level and enable our Kroger teams to leverage industry best practices. The Cloud Architect must have experience in technical architecture design, configuration, implementation, and data migration for medium to large sized enterprise platforms.

Core requirements include Databricks, Spark, Python, Azure SQL, eventing and messaging (e.g. Kafka) with more than10 years experience working in Big Data and MPP solutions. We will not consider a candidate that does not meet these core requirements as this is not a position that we have bandwidth to stretch on or spend time upskilling.

Minimum Position Qualifications
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with data platforms
  • 10+ years of experience implementing data warehouses and data marts
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in big data implementing and performance tuning MPP databases
  • 3+ years of experience with PySpark/Spark
  • 3+ years of experience with Databricks
  • Experience in implementing data solutions in Azure including Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Cosmos DB, Databricks, ADLS, Blob Storage, ADF, Azure Stream Analytics
  • Experience with data security best practices
  • Basic understanding of network and data security architecture

  • Enable streaming data use-cases and standard design patterns in a big data environment
  • Technical lead for DMP coordinating with Platform, API, DevOps, Ops & Support, and Product Management
  • Provide technical guidance on technology implementation and architecture challenges
  • Review and provide feedback on core code changes and support production deployments
  • Provide tier 3 support through the triage of operational issues and assist Ops & Support team in troubleshooting
  • Hands-on keyboard for product deliverables
