We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world’s toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.Location/Division Specific Information:The Cincinnati, OH site is a Center of Excellence for specialized oral solid dose manufacturing and drug development within the Pharma Services Group (PSG).How Will You Make an Impact?The Packaging Process Engineer supports packaging production through root cause problem solving and the implementation of engineering solutions within a GMP environment. You will identify and implement improvements around current packaging processes and equipment reliability. You will also drive the innovation and development of assigned project elements with an emphasis on the packaging process, technology and procedures required for the packaging of new products. The Packaging Process Engineer supports product serialization and uses the latest engineering techniques to reduce product time to market while adhering to regulatory requirements, project timelines and product costs.A Day in the Life:

Seek opportunities for process and optimization improvements to right first time, throughput, productivity, and cost savings

Serve as a primary point of contact as the equipment and process subject matter expert for requests outside of operations to support capital equipment investments, equipment qualifications, new product development, product proposals and quotes

Provide engineering support for new product and process introductions applying good engineering practices

Analyze operational equipment and maintenance data to drive engineering solutions that support cost reduction, quality, safety, and operational efficiencies

Use process improvement techniques with teams to identify and drive efficiency projects as well as cost savings initiatives

Support solving and influence resolution for major equipment breakdowns

Work closely with maintenance and reliability to align on data driven decisions that improve equipment up time, conduct risk assessments and report performance to the department

Root cause problem solving to implement corrective actions that improve quality

Collaborate with internal and external customers, as well as original equipment manufacturers to provide technical expertise, recommendations, and continuous improvement insight on processing equipment

Support and manage serialization system(s)

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (mechanical, industrial, chemical, electrical, etc.)

Experience:

Required: No previous work experience required

Required: PC proficiency

Preferred: Experience in engineering, pharmaceutical manufacturing/packaging, operations, equipment reliability, equipment validation, or quality assurance

Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment

Preferred: Mechanical skill/proficiency

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Basic knowledge of manufacturing equipment

Ability to express ideas, communicate effectively and work well with others in a team setting

Ability to read work instructions and procedures/manuals/diagrams

Strong leadership, planning and time management

Desire to learn, grow and be successful

Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical/problem solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

Able to work effectively with OEMs for equipment support and ordering parts

Able to advocate for new and better ways of doing things

Excellent data analytical skills and ability to plan, organize and implement concurrent tasks

Excellent attention to detail

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Position requires wearing personal protective equipment, including, but not limited to, various styles of dust masks or respirators, safety glasses, safety shoes, and scrubs or modified gowning

Ability to manipulate/handle drums weighing up to 60 kg and lift containers and/or tooling weighing up to 20 kg intermittently throughout the workday

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time
