Job LocationsUS-OH-CincinnatiYour OpportunityThe General Manager – Bioscience is responsible for the development and operational strategy of Wansheng Pharmaceutical, a biopharmaceutical platform under WH Group, branded in the Americas as Smithfield Foods Bioscience. She/He is responsible for the development and improvement of existing products, sales, and service to our major global customers, and is similarly responsible for domestic customer relationships. The General Manager is responsible for the development and collection of porcine products related to pharmaceuticals and exploring biopharmaceutical business opportunities related to these products. In total, this role will contribute to Smithfield Foods’ vision of maximizing the value of our pigs. Core Responsibilities
Act as a liaison between Smithfield Bioscience and Wansheng Pharmaceutical platform on execution of WH Group strategy and business development activities.
Responsible for the budget set by WH Group and Smithfield Bioscience. Consistent communication with internal stakeholders (including WH and Shuanghui) covering all areas of the business, P&L, and more.
Ensure the manufacturing processes, product quality and external suppliers meet or exceed the requirement of GMP/government regulations.
In close collaboration with WH Group, initiate and foster new business relationships with pharmaceutical and medical device companies, academic institutions, and non-profit or governmental agencies to expand the use of porcine products for technological applications.
Identify and assess both market opportunity and strategic fit with Smithfield bioscience and WH Group strategy.
Develop strategic plans to create opportunities and assign appropriate timelines. Forecast potential revenues to the business.
Research, identify, and leverage opportunities for partnerships, joint ventures, and acquisitions.
Build a pipeline with potential partnering prospects, understand industry needs and opportunities, and identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships that leverage the unique capabilities of WH Group
Work closely with the Research & Development team and oversee new product development from proposal to finished sample, including cost analysis and pricing

Bachelor’s Degree in business or scientific discipline from an accredited four-year college or university and 10+ years’ relevant experience; required
Master’s Degree, preferred
5+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development is required.
Experience in pharmaceutical and/or medical device business development, required
Highly analytical and encompass a strategic thought process, must have the ability to stretch outside of tactical method and nature
Possess and demonstrate quality negotiation skills
Develops and cultivates long-term growth strategies and develops new opportunities
Comfort with financial modeling and project management tools
Displays strong interpersonal skills include adaptability and ability to communicate persuasively and drive for results
Exhibit an innovative approach and demonstrate a visionary thought leader
Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
Ability to prioritize projects and produce high quality and quantity output that adds value to the company.
