DescriptionGeneral SummaryWe have a great opportunity for a Material Handler to join our Shipping and Receiving team. In this role you will provide all shipping, receiving, and warehouse activities following International Standards Organization (ISO) procedures and in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and other standard practices, in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.Primary Responsibilities

Material Handling – Perform all primary processes of the Material Handler position. Ensure that raw materials and finished goods are properly put away daily and that Michelman’s trailers are loaded in advance for transport to our distribution center.

Shipping – Match shipping documents/labels to today’s staged orders, verify accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and review sales order for customer (specific shipping notes in preparation for shipment); call LTL carriers and schedule pick-ups

Load Trucks – Understand safe and practical loading protocols given different trailer lengths, axle position, and container/product mix to assure that load is safe for OTR movement, HazMat regulations are met, and will, to the best of our knowledge, meet DOT axle weight requirements

Unload Trucks – Verify inbound shipment paperwork, unload with appropriate equipment and stage on dock, inspect for damage, and sign off on delivery paperwork; print RM labels and apply to each container, and deliver to appropriate inventory location

Enter Receipts – Enter necessary information into computer system, and create raw material labels with correct barcode and lot numbers

Customer Relationships – Maintain high level of focus on the importance of customers and prospects and embrace customer/prospect focus throughout the organization, personally doing whatever is appropriate

Warehouse – Maintain cleanliness/organization of the warehouse

Quality – Ensure packaging presents a clean and professional appearance

Processes and Procedures – Stay current on, follow, and make recommendations for improvements to all shipping and receiving procedures

Order Accuracy - Provide final check of all products shipping to customers

Culture - Embrace and actively participate in a culture of accountability, communication and robust dialogue, including energy and urgency, having a little fun along the way

Other

Must be able to climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 100lbs

Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time

Must be able to pass Pulmonary Function Test

Must be able to operate forklift safely

Must show proficiency in the operation of all necessary equipment

Must be able to physically maneuver steel/fiber drums weighing 100 to 500# each on a daily basis

Must be able to work in a fast pace environment while maintaining focus and attention to detail

Basic understanding of computers and barcode scanners

Education and Experience

High school Diploma/GED or equivalent required

Forklift experience preferred

A valid Class A CDL License a plus but not required
