General Statement of DutiesThere are several positions available within Greater Cincinnati Water Works, please review each section's Genral Statement of Duties below.Must be willing to take direction from supervisors and managers. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must follow Greater Cincinnati Water Works rules, regulations, and guidelines, especially those relating to safety and customer service. Must maintain confidentiality in accordance with regulations. GCWW Office of the Executive Director (Administration). The student will observe, learn about, and assist with office and administrative work in connection with department-wide management and initiatives (ex—strategic business plan, lead program). This may include writing, filing, preparing documents, and attending meetings.GCWW Communications. The student would assist the Communications & Marketing Team by taking photos and videos for GCWW’s social media accounts. Must be familiar with and proficient at using social media and exercise good judgment. The ideal candidate needs creativity, as well as excellent writing and editing skills.Additionally, the student may be asked to assist staff in door-knocking efforts and community events related to boosting the participation rate in GCWW’s Lead Service Line Replacement Program. The ideal candidate needs to be courteous and comfortable with dealing with members of the public, as well as have a professional demeanor.GCWW Commercial Service's Administration. Must be willing to take direction from supervisors and managers. Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Must have the technical skill to operate Microsoft Office and do research through a search engine such as Google or other sites. Must follow Greater Cincinnati Water Works rules, regulations, and guidelines, especially those relating to safety and customer service.GCWW Lead Service Line Replacement Program. This position will be with the Lead Team who administer the Lead Service Line Replacement Program. The student will learn about the Lead Service Line Replacement Process, assist with photo documentation and customer interviews upon the completion of a replacement, assist with the social media and community outreach campaigns, learn to bid a replacement with Lead Procurement, and participate in team meetings to engage in planning of projects. GCWW Water Quality and Treatment Division.The intern will assist water treatment scientists and technicians with water quality sampling, monitoring, and data evaluation in an actual water treatment plant setting. The student will learn how drinking water is treated and how safe and high-quality drinking water is delivered to GCWW’s customers. This will provide meaningful work experience for the student as well as useful project assistance for GCWW.GCWW Engineering - Planning, Records, and Devlopment.Assist the records/mapping, development, and branch groups in various duties that may include, but not be limited to: data review/updating in the geographic information system (GIS), review and quality control of fire flow database, creation of version #1 of the Development Design Guidance Manual, updates to the easement database.Work in assigned summer youth employment opportunities provided by Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio, Easter Seals Tri-State, and Cincinnati Hamilton County Community Action Agency.Minimum Qualifications (KSAs)Youth 14 to 18 years of age meeting City residency and household income guidelines.Must have a valid work permit (14 and 15 years old) or parental consent (16 and 17 years old). Must complete application and submit supplemental parental forms. Must attend 20 hour orientation/training session.EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:Type letters, reports, and other documents from rough typed or longhand drafts. Answers phone calls, greets visitors, take messages, answering questions and complaints, and providing appropriate information and assistance. Copies, collates, and addresses material for mailing and routing. Receives, opens and routes incoming mail. Basic landscaping and grounds keeping Cleans floors, walls, and equipment.
