Geologist – Cincinnati, OH

Position Overview
The role includes supporting environmental compliance, environmental due diligence, soil and groundwater investigations, remediation implementation, data management and interpretation, technical report preparation, and project management assistance. The role involves performing regulatory research and preparing environmental permits and plans requiring an interest in and willingness to learn federal and multi-state environmental regulations. The position requires working at active and closed energy, commercial, industrial, municipal, and federal site locations.
This role includes:
environmental permitting; developing SPCC Plans, SWPPPs, and NPDES permits; providing hazardous waste, hazardous materials, and other environmental regulatory compliance services; and conducting Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments.
field support for soil and groundwater investigations and remediation implementation including soil boring installation; monitoring well installation; soil, groundwater, surface water, and stormwater sample collection; remediation system operations and maintenance (O&M) and troubleshooting; and field and construction oversight and management. This position requires a willingness to travel for field work (up to 25% of work time may include travel) and a clean driving record. Mandatory Qualifications
3-7+ years of relevant experience
A bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geologic Engineering, or Hydrogeology. Master’s degree preferred.
PG or willingness to obtain PG
Strong technical and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail and accuracy, as well as a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables
Direct industry employment history in environmental assessment, within an industrial setting, or a related field
Experience leading field events in industrial settings
Fluency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Valid driver’s license
Strong academic GPA and relevant thesis topic
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of federal and state regulations including RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, and UST/AST systems
Experience with authoring ASTM-compliant (E1527-21) Phase I ESAs and (E1903-19) Phase II ESAs
Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients and project team members
Positive employment history with a commitment to safe work practices
Dependable, with the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
Familiarity with various Microsoft Office programs such as PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and affiliated applications
GIS or CADD training
