Position Overview:
The Landscaping Foreman will oversee and manage on-site landscaping projects, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. They will be responsible for coordinating team members, managing resources, and maintaining communication with management and clients. The Foreman will ensure that each job is completed on time, within scope, and meets all customer and company expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight: Lead the installation and construction of landscape projects, including French drains, Allen Block retaining walls, privacy fences, and other landscape structures.
Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor crew members, ensuring that work is executed safely and effectively.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as hearing protection and safety shoes, especially when operating machinery like trenchers.
Equipment Operation: Operate and oversee the use of machinery, such as trenchers, mechanical compactors, and other landscaping equipment. Ensure that tools and equipment are properly maintained.
Quality Control: Ensure all work adheres to company standards, including checking slopes with transits, ensuring drainage is properly installed, and verifying the level and compaction of bases for retaining walls.
Resource Management: Organize materials, such as capstones, gravel, geotextile fabric, and fencing supplies, and ensure that resources are used efficiently.
Client Interaction: Maintain a professional relationship with clients, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction with project outcomes.
Documentation: Record and report project progress, taking photographs of receipts and properly labeling them for material purchases.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in landscaping, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with landscape construction techniques, including drainage installation, retaining wall building, and fence construction.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety regulations and experience in enforcing them on the job site.
Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot on-site issues and provide practical solutions.
Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with downspout collection piping installation and familiarity with the use of solid pipes and trenching procedures.
Experience in pond/lake management or an interest in expanding into this field.
Working Conditions:
This position involves outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Physical stamina is required to manage heavy equipment, lift materials, and oversee active job sites.
