Do you thrive on the craft of manual controls and the satisfaction of operating a truly unique piece of industrial history? If so, we have an incredibly special opportunity for you at our small, family-owned barge and rail terminal in Cincinnati, Ohio.
We're seeking a dedicated and experienced Crane Operator to master our magnificent, circa 1927 McMyler Whirley crane. This isn't a modern, digital machine; it's a fully analog crane that requires a true operator who understands its mechanics and respects the art of its operation.
About the Role:
You'll be the primary operator of our vintage McMyler Whirly, handling materials between barges, railcars, and our terminal. This is a hands-on position where your expertise with manual controls and your mechanical aptitude will be paramount.
Flexible Employment: This position can be full-time for candidates with additional skills useful to our terminal operations, or on an as-needed basis (part-time), requiring your availability when operations demand.
Crane Advocate: You will serve as the de facto expert on the McMyler Whirly, communicating its maintenance needs. Some work will be handled in-house, while more specialized repairs will be jobbed out.
Training: Our current, retiring operator will provide direct knowledge transfer and training on this specific crane.
What We're Looking For:
Proven experience as a crane operator.
Strong preference for experience with or passionate interest in operating vintage, analog, or mechanically-driven heavy equipment.
Deep understanding of mechanical systems and controls.
Commitment to safety and adherence to all operational procedures in an industrial setting.
Reliable, responsible, and a strong work ethic.
Comfortable working in an outdoor barge and rail terminal environment.
Ability to perform routine daily checks and communicate maintenance needs.
Compensation:
$25.00 per hour
This is a strictly paycheck-based position; no benefits are offered.
