Cleveland Clinic Children's Pediatric Emergency Department at Fairview Hospital is carefully designed with the unique physical and emotional needs of our youngest patients and their families in mind. Fairview Hospital is the only location on the west side to offer a 24/7 dedicated pediatric emergency department. The expanded unit features a separate waiting room with kid-friendly decor, pediatric-only treatment rooms, specially trained caregivers in pediatric care, and specialized equipment designed specifically for infants, children and adolescents. Typical emergency rooms do not have the advanced training devoted just to children, and urgent care centers do not treat severe illness or injury. We do both. This results in a safer environment for children to receive treatment.A caregiver in this position works 7:30am - 4:00pm.A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High school diploma or GED.
1 year of experience in a customer service-related role.
Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
College degree.
Microsoft Office experience.

Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.
Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.
